The Gym is OPEN. Come on in!! Monday...here we go again! Rehab today. So I walked 30 minutes @ 1.6mph, Did the leg press: 6@ 105#, 6@ 110#, and 6@ 115#, and the Sit/Stand 3 sets of 5 with the 3kg medicine ball. And of course warmup stretches and arm machine. This afternoon I was watching TV and picked up my 5# dumbell and did 10 each of 6 exercises (each arm).

I did my warm-up stretches and played around on the exercise ball for a while. I don't seem to accomplish much with it ---- I tend to sit on it more than anything else (it is a comfortable seat!) It sure is lonesome in here all by myself!

Here I am!! It's Wednesday - always seems to be the day we increase stuff at rehab. So, my TM speed was increased to 1.7mph (30 minutes), kept the medicine ball at 3kg (3 sets of 5) and increased the leg press to 110, 115 and 120# (6 of each). Tonight I will need Tylenol to sleep or my legs will drive me crazy; but I'll be fine tomorrow.
Arlene I can't imagine walking for 1½ hours on the TM. Yuck!! I'd fall asleep from boredom.

Trust me it is horribly boring, but you gotta do what you gotta do. I do the 10,000 + steps a day and you gotta spend time on that. I am going to start splitting it up into 2 sessions though as I usually do 2 hours I am going to start 1 in late morning and one in evening. Kind of cheating on the step thing but I don't know how long I can last walking on that thing like that. I don't have anything to look at except closet doors and walls not tall enough to see out the windows where my tm is lol.. Good workout smiley

Thursday: I spent the morning running errands, which included a trip to Walmart and my weekly grocery shopping. Between those two, I got in a good walk. I also worked with my 5# dumbell for arm strength.
See you tomorrow!

I am popping in to say Hello and that I am trying to get myself back in here. It is not easy with our busy days and stress. Things have settled some and maybe I get it going. I went to rehab Tuesday. First time in about month. I did do 9 minutes on TM and that was good considering about all I have used in muscles lately is my mouth. I mainly went for the class as one of the ladies had a Lung Transplant and was speaking. I met her about 6 years ago. Keep up the good work all and don't give up on me.

I went over to Costco the other day to walk the store. It's so much like Sam's Club that I got bored. I did pretty much walk the store but only took me a hour. When I get a good walk in is when I go to Sam's and grocery shop. I use to do the majority of my walking out on the streets but can't get motivated to do that again. Heat and pollution I guess.
Yippee, I've lost I've lost 6 lbs in the last few weeks. I am on the diabetic diet and it seems to be working very well for me.
Merry and Muffin, you are both doing excellent. What are core exercises?
Maryaz, if you are stressed, it's the time to get moving. I hope you can get a exercise program in place for yourself. Didn't you say you could attend rehab?
Pat

Mary - we will never give up on you. You always have a spot reserved here at the Day to Day Gym and Rehab Center. LOL Pat - Core exercises are the ones that strengthen your mid-section. Those muscles are so important for posture and balance. Having a strong core helps keep you from falling and helps prevent spinal fractures. You can do them on the exercise ball, on the floor (if you are able to get back up) or even on a chair. I went to Rehab today and did my usual. I'm sure you get tired of reading the same old stuff every time.

Merry, thanks for the explanation of core exercises. I learned something new today. I will google core exercises and see if they have a description of what the exercises consist of. I do have a balance problem resulting from a mild stroke in 2001 and these sound like they could be very beneficial. Mary, you're a darling, but quit talking and get walkiing Pat
