peeling eggs

An easy way to peel a hard boiled egg that works for me is once you get the peel started, take a spoon (a regular one, like what you stir coffee with) and turn it curved side up. Work it under the shell, between the egg and the skin to peel the egg. If you have a garbage disposal, run a bit of water over the egg at the same time and it helps to loosen the shell while you work the spoon around. This does work, but not so well if you have one of those eggs that just doesnt want to be peeled. (the shell sticks to it)

Egg shells are also suppose to be good for the garbage disposal. (Lemon peel cut up helps get odors out of there too. I don't have one but when we were renting we did and the smell got to me so I tried everything. Lemon and baking soda worked the best for me.) I didn't think I would miss it but I do a little.

They say to plunge your eggs into ice water when they finish cooking. I always ran cold water over them, and it didn't work too well. Lately I've been taking them out of the pan with tongs and putting them into a bowl with water and ice in it. Since I've been doing that, every egg has been easy to peel. It's amazing!

Seems I have heard it depends on the age of the egg as to whether it peels well or not. Can't remember how that works though. duh Pat
