Baked Hard-Cooked Eggs
For anyone that may not know, the BEST way to make "hard-boiled" eggs is in the OVEN! Place the eggs in a muffin tray so they do not move around, turn the oven to 325 degrees, pop in for about 25-30 minutes and remove! Not only are they tastier, but they also are much easier to peel!

Betty - I've made shirred eggs (baked in ramekins), but I've never heard of baking eggs in the shell. It seems like the shell would crack (don't know why I would think that.) I always keep hard boiled eggs on hand, so I will try this next time. Thanks for the tip!

I have never tried it, just copied it from an email. Just something to talk about and it might work. I am going to try it right now.

I've never heard of that one either so let us know how it works out! (I've never heard of the ziplock baggie scrambled egg, where you mix it up in a baggie then put it in a pot of boiling water but that one does work, I've done it before)

I seen people do that with omelets too Sue, I think it was up on the Canada board....never tried it but curious to see.
TO hard boil I usually put in a pot of cold water and bring to a boil then cover & turn off for 12 mins and they never turn green, then put in a ice bath for a few & peel...usually the peel comes right off if you don't wait too long.
Let us know how they come out.....never baked an egg before!!!

Had my husband eat it and he said it was kind of rubbery. Don't know what that means but that is what he said. I think they would be o.k. in an egg salad or something like that but he just ate it without anything on it but a little salt.

If they were rubbery, it's probably because they were more well-done than you usually cook them. I prefer them more on the firm side. I fix them like Colleen, but I let them sit for 25 minutes (not 12). But, I also buy extra-large or jumbo eggs, so they will take a little longer.
My mother's yolks used to always have a green ring around them. Mine never do -- not sure what causes that.

I think I did cook them too long. It said 25 to 30 min and I always split it so I cooked them 27 min. Should of maybe done 24 min. I do have an egg cooker that works good and fast but being as bored as I am, any new thing just gets my blood rushing. ha ha. You all just wait to you get my age and you will see.

I'm lazy so anything like that works for me, lol...I'll have to try that sometime tho Betty! I wonder who came up with baking them, they must be lazy too, or just curious, haha. I forget how long I boil them, then put them directly into cold water for like 6 min or so, then peel. If you have a garbage disposal, peel under running water and use a spoon, curved side up to work under the peel and that helps too, especially if the peel is sticking to the egg.
Colleen, with the ziplock omelet, make sure the top of the bag isnt hanging over the outside of the pan or it could melt. The finished product is in a long roll shape which would work for a breakfast burrito. What's nice is everyone can add what they want or just leave it plain also, just dont cook the plain ones as long.
