Hi
I noticed no one had been posting for this month. I was wondering what everyone was doing.
Last I read was about Dr. Oz. He does get a lot of people doing the quick routines and I would love to be able to start out doing it my pace.
I have been doing my bike alot. My breathing isn't where it was so I am working up to it. But I am moving around alot.
What is everyone else doing?

Happy New Year! Well, I made a resolution to try to lose some weight - at least 10 pounds, but would prefer 20. I've been watching Dr. Oz and hoping some of his advice will start working by osmosis I've made some minor changes to our diet, but the scale hasn't budged. I will continue to work it....I ordered some Safflower Oil caps - supposed to eat your fat, and give you more energy to build muscle. We'll see. They arrived today. My exercise routine continues as usual. I walk every day (3 times per day) with the dog. I also am still taking my water aerobics class twice a week. Hoping they will add another class so I can up it to 3 times a week. I am planning to buy an exercise mat so I can do some situps and pushups at home. I am limited to what I can do due to a shoulder problem. I will most likely have surgery within the next couple of months to fix it. Then I will be able to get back to swimming laps - which I think is the best exercise there is.

Wow, that is alot of great exercising, Merry. Wish I could do all that.
Dr. Oz has some great ideas, I haven't really tried them yet. The Safflower is supposed to be good. I believe QVC was selling something to do with that.
I will be trying to get to the mall and major warehouses to do some walking this week and weekend.
Alot of folks hit a plateau when dieting. So, maybe that is the problem. You are keeping at it, so that is good.
Bike and treadmill this week, with some malibu pilates thrown in...still working up to where I was.

Aero - I've seen some demos of Malibu Pilates...it looks very difficult. I saw Susan Lucci doing it on one show. Looked easy until I actually thought about what she was doing! Ugh! Have you been doing it long? I'm surprised you are able to exert yourself that much....good job!

Merry Haven't done the Malibu Pilates since I have been so sick. It isn't as easy as it looks. But, if I put the light tension bars on and just go my pace, I can do most of the exercises. I just have to control my self because I do try to keep up like the old days!!!! LOL

I always come in here and say I am going to exercise and then I don't stay with it. I have been trying again. I consider myself doing it, if when the week is over, I have exercised at least 3 times and preferrably 4. If that is what it takes to get to doing it more often, I am okay with that. It worked one week and then was off a week. I was okay for last week and so back on for now.
Aero, good for you. Just go easy. You don't want to over do. Hope you are feeling better.

I don't exercise like I should, I need motivation I guess, or someone to give me a kick in the seat to get me going.
Merry, how do you think the safflower is working for you?
On Dr Oz early in the week he said saffron extract works as an appetite suppressant. I'm thinking of looking into it, reviews online sound ok about it. My main thing is I get bored so I eat and my crazy work schedule doesnt help. When I smoked I'd just like up instead of eat and that helped...cant go back to that one lol. Anyone familiar with Saffron extract?

Sue - I've been taking the Safflower Oil stuff ... can't say I've noticed any difference, and sure haven't lost any weight so I'll probably stop using it. My weight seems to be stuck -- I can blame my meds because 2 of them are known to make it difficult to lose weight. And my shoulder keeps me from working out as hard as I would otherwise. I have tracked what I eat -- being VERY HONEST -- and I eat about 1600 calories a day. That's not a lot and I should be losing weight (at least a little). I am at the very top of a normal BMI. The doctors are not concerned, so I guess I shouldn't be either...It's just aggravating....

I stopped at my local health food store and they said they couldnt get the saffron extract and if I saw it online it was prolly synthetic which isnt all that great. So he sold me this stuff called citramax (citro?), it comes from some kind of fruit and his customers tells him it works great with no side effects, etc. so I will give it a try. I take 1 before every meal so I'll let you know how it goes. If it kills the boredom wanna eat munchies I'll be a happy camper, lol.

Well I hope this stuff works for you. I like to go to drugs.com to check my drug interaction checker with stuff. Sometimes even all natural remedies have an effect with other meds, so if you feel wierd or something new, check with dr. Let us know, Sue, how it works.
Walked Bed, Bath, and Beyond today. Tomorrow is going to be windy so will find indoor ideas for easy exercise.
