Today was gym day, so I did the leg press at 145# (3 sets of 6) and 1 hour in the pool for water aerobics. Walked the dog twice (1/2 mile) in 96* heat, and help chase down 3 pigs that escaped -- TWICE -- in the same heat. I am very tired.....

Hi Merry, With Lynn not posting it is going to get more quiet in here. I am still trying but not there yet. Until I get it really going, I am not going to post another 2 minute walk. Pat is still here. You do so well. I sure am enjoying your life and workouts. ;D ;D

I am sorry Mary I meant I wasn't going to post much on the chat board. The exercise board i will still post on pretty often as the exercise is something I do most daily. Yesterday and rode the stationary bike and potted a plant. It was such a big job I am considering it exercise. Today. I walked on the tm,weight and breathing exercises and did a few back exercises. Goodness that must have been awfull messing with those pigs in that heat. When does your heat break Mary and Merry? lynn

Good question, Lynn...I've been wondering the same thing!

The heat continues, although it's been beautiful early in the morning the last few days. I need to get out and walk then, but it doesn't suit my schedule. I do take the dog out then for his morning walk - about 1/4 mile - but it is not very fast. My knees and ankles don't like to move that early in the day.
I went to the gym yesterday and did my usual. Went grocery shopping today and ran some other errands. I've been trying to remember to use my hand weights periodically through the day for upper body work. I'm not terribly consistant with them, though.

I need to exercise more. I do walk malls, big stores, but I need to go back to the Y for the tm and other exercise equipment. Question. What exercise is good for firming up the thighs?

Pat - If you get back to the Y, you can use the exercise machines to firm your legs - especially the leg extension and leg curl. In the meantime, one of the best is the old stand-by: Sit down and stand up...Repeat... Climbing stairs is good, too.
When I got to the gym yesterday, found out our instructor had to take his son to the ER. So we decided to do the class on our own. Somehow, I wound up leading the group (with a lot of input from the others). It's tough to exercise, give instruction and count the time all at once - makes it hard to breathe. We had a good time, though.

Merry thanks for the tip. I use to stand up and sit down alot. I guess I got lazy. Maybe the Y will be in order today...Pat

Today i walked on the tm,weight and breathing exercises. That is about all i have done since Sunday this week. spent Monday in the er for stomach pain and my but was kicked seemed like for the rest of the week. When i got up this morning i thought that i had better walk some to get the stiffness out of my back and legs. Merry. cute pictures of the baby pigs. Are they born with there eyes open?

Well, I've been doing the same old things. Hubby asked me the other day if I'd lost some weight - I haven't, but I guess I've firmed up so I look thinner.

I am not talking about me and exercise but working toward it. Lynn, I always think a pulmonary rehab is a very good thing. On rare occasions someone has described one that might leave something to be desired. I always learned a lot and from the people attending and from the staff. We had classes once a week and that can be educational or informative. Merry, what you said goes back to that Muscle weighs more than Fat. Actually in your case, you surely must have built up your muscles. Hope to be in here before long. If the heat ever lets up would be nice. Still 105.

French Toast is very good for you - it's the stuff they pile on top of it that's the problem. I just put on a small pat of margarine and a little syrup....not bad at all. Especially since I use whole grain bread. It's one of our favorite breakfasts.
I continue to do the same stuff - water aerobics for an hour, 3 times a week; leg press 3 sets of 6 at 145 pounds 3 times a week; walk the dog 1/4 to 1/2 mile 3 times a day.
Since today is the first of October, I guess it's time to start a new thread. So, whoever comes next....
