Mary (and anyone else interested), you were talking about taking showers the other day, this is what they installed in a shower at work and it seems to work well. Hope you find this of some help. Pic is clickable.

We had one that you could take off but when you set it down on the floor it twists around and ends up having to reach for it and not an easy fix. If it could hang on the wall and you could reach for it and pick it up but cannot do that.
Trying not to keep getting up and down if using the chair. Have to get up to get it like the pic is. Maybe I am missing something you are trying to show.
I really thank you for doing this. How does this work for them.

No one complains, lol. There is also metal hand rail for the unsteady residents to grab onto, that is I guess waist high that some tuck the metal hose thru that and then the shower head will rest on top of that. Otherwise you could probably install a lower hook. Have you asked at someplace like a Lowe's or Home Depot as to what they would recommend?

I used to hold it between my knees when I wasn't rinsing, and as to wash the private parts I would stand and wash and wash the seat and rinse and sit back down. This worked out pretty well and did not get to SOB. It takes time to find out what will work for you. Good Luck!

Mary,
My husband bought our hand-held shower head at Home Depot. It is great. He took off the old shower head and installed the shower head attached to the hand held. He then hung the rest of the hand-jeld shower up. I can either direct the shower head to a shower chair, stand up to shower, or take the hand held and just use it at the shower chair. It doesn't kink or anything -very user frriendly.
It looks a lot like the one Sue pictures in her text above. It costs about $15 or so at Home Depot. Most like type stores carry the same model.
Let us know what you decide.

Mary,
The spray lifts up out of the holder. The knob on the long bar moves it up and down so someone else can take a shower.
My chair had no arms, maybe that's what makes it smaller.
This bar is on pretty tight. We've had it this way for years, even before the chair.

I have one like Colleen, Gretchen and BJ. It works wonderful. There are ones that are not that long where it would lay on the floor. It was the best thing we ever bought! Good luck Mary.

Originally I wanted one that you could take and hold in your hand and use it. Then be able to lay it down, like on the floor, or preferably even on the wall (cannot do) or somehow and can pick it back up to use it.
I will just keep working at it. Cannot get one for ours. I also wanted one that you connect to a bathroom faucet and could wash my hair there. Will not fit on our faucets. I could do this in the kitchen but I am not comfortable doing that.
Thanks,

Mary - I ran across this - the hand-held attaches to the regular shower head, so either can be used. The hand-held can be mounted wherever you want it -- it could be down low at chair height. This one is very expensive, but there must be others out there that are similar for less money.

At work they also installed handrails in the shower, one runs the width of th wall, one is above the faucet, and at work we tuck the handheld hose behind the handrais so the showerhead rests on it and is handy to get at while using also.
