Well, the gym is back open for now. He found someone to help out in exchange for membership -- so we'll see how long that goes on.
I walked 30 minutes today. Started at 2.5, then upped it to 2.9 and then back down to 2.5. Did 1.37 miles. Did 3 arm machines at 50 pounds (2 sets of 10 each), and did 3 leg machines at 60 pounds (3 sets of 6 each).

Friday-the 11th. I figured if I was so close to 3 mph, that I would see if I could jog a little..... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I kept inching the speed up figuring a jog would just happen naturally at a certain speed. I got up to 3.5 mph, and my little legs were walking just as fast as they could possibly go, but they just flat refused to go into "run mode". I must have looked like one of those Race-walkers you see on TV! After about a minute, I backed my speed down to a more reasonable rate and went back to acting my age! Other than that, the day was uneventful at the gym. I did my 30 minutes, plus all my weight machines.

I bumped my speed up on the TM. Did 15 minutes at 2.9 and the other 15 at 3.0 mph. It made my shins sore, but assume that will pass with further practice. I did all the other weight machines as usual, but am trying to increase the weights on those, too.

Hi Merry, I love your Saturday post. Real cute!! I am way off track. I will be trying again but not started yet. It is not good that I am not exercising. I need to do it.
Good luck with your new home and getting it all worked out and settled.

Wednesday, the 16th. I did my regular. Nothing new or exciting. The man who runs the gym had to get a job, so he is no longer available for the morning crowd. There are only a few of us who are regulars in the morning.....so he gave us all keys. We are free to just come and go at will. I love small town living!

Saturday, the 26th. Went to the gym Wednesday and Friday. Did my full 30 minutes on the TM at about 2.7mph - a very comfortable speed for me at this point. Elevation 1.0 Then did all the leg and arm machines - takes about 20 minutes - with all of them at 60 pounds. Except the leg press - 140 pounds. 3 sets of 6 on everything. I continue to be a good girl

Thom - sorry I missed your posts. Just caught them today. Pulmonary Rehab is a wonderful thing!! your pulmonary doc can refer you to your local program. You have to have a dr. script to attend, and insurance pays for it. It is a great way to get started exercising and building yourself up.
I was on oxygen most of the time when I started exercising last year. Started very slowly, but was amazed at how quickly I improved. I was just up to walking a mile when I received my transplant, and since then, I have improved even more dramatically!!
I hope you'll get to be a regular poster! looking forward to getting to know you.
Sue - we all know how physically demanding your job is! You don't need to do any more to stay in shape. As long as you keep your job, I don't think you need to worry about exercising.
