I can't believe it's almost August! No wonder it's so blamed hot!! It is happy Monday - always my busiest day. I started the day at the gym - as usual. I did the treadmill first: 20 minutes at 2.7 mph and another 10 minutes at 2.8mph. Then I hit the weight machines. 3 leg machines -- each 3 sets of 6 at 60 lbs. 3 arm machines -- each 3 sets of 10 at 40 lbs. After that, I did all sorts of errands and then went home to do book work and talk to the insurance company - those hospital and doctor bills just keep on coming

Hi Merry; I thought I better report in. I am not doing the TM today and will be some other off days. However, I am back to lifting and moving stuff. Rather than finish all my sorting and throwing in 'my' room, I am boxing up what is left or normally on top of desk and table, etc. We are going to do a thorough cleaning/dusting of this room. Also Joe will take one day after that and clean the carpet. This is what I did yesterday and today. That is a do and sit, do and sit job. This is so needed. The room has been over full with 'stuff' and you cannot clean good. Same room with 2 bookcases but those I got done. There are 2 other stands, a big file cabinet, TV and more. Merry, those bills can get aggravating at times. I just dread when I get odd ones and have to make calls on them. I do not like talking to machine. I was so mad a couple weeks ago and I was yelling at the machine. Now that is stressed. I am always thankful that we have insurance though. I will be back.

I didn't work out this morning. When I got to the gym, the mgr wasn't feeling well. I was the only one there, so I told him to go home and get some rest. I may go back this afternoon, or wait until tomorrow - we'll see.

Pat - I work with Nautilus machines - not dumbells. But, yes ... I do 40 pounds on the upper body machines. They work both arms at the same time, so I guess it's equivalent to 20 pounds per arm. I do a rowing machine, and one that you pull your arms from above your head down toward your lap in an arc. The other one, the arms are pulled down to the sides. I need to work on presses - where you push the weight away from your chest - but I am not very good at those, and the machines don't go any lower than 30 pounds. I guess I need to do those with the dumbells. One of these days.

Holly -- one of the most important things to do when you exercise is to "blow as you go". Make sure you exhale (blow through your mouth) when you are doing the hardest part of the exercise. That can actually help you get rid of gasses you've trapped. But you don't want to make yourself worse. I wouldn't do anything that made me more SOB. Use only very light weights and walk at a comfortable pace. And of course, check with your doctor.
Today I upped the elevation on the treadmill to 1.0 and walked 30 minutes at 2.7 mph. I tried doing some presses and found I could do them quite comfortably at 30 pounds - did 2 sets of 10. Then did all the other stuff I usually do.
Have a good weekend, and I expect you all to show up bright and early Monday morning!!
