Happy Memorial Day! Now, get off your kiesters and get to work!! I hit the gym first thing this morning. Walked 30 minutes at 2.4 mph. I did 15 each on the leg extensions and leg curls at 60 pounds. They are getting easy, so will probably up to 70# next week (maybe). I did the rowing machine plus 3 other arm machines at 40 pounds and did the arm press at 30# (that's the hardest one for me). Then I jumped on the stair stepper (ok, so I didn't really jump ;D ) and did 7 flights of stairs at level 7/12. Really got me breathing hard, but didn't bother my legs.

OMG, look at that picture! That could scare you into working out.
I said yesterday that I would start and I did. Started a little better than my last time starting, at 2 minutes. Will try to increase each day.
TM 5 minutes @ 1.1

Merry, that graphic is a hoot!! I bruised the inside of my foot getting on the stool at the kitchen counter, cant get a shoe on yet: Cliclable look's a little more purple in person and can I tell you how much it hurt when I did it!! It's still a little sore so no rehab today. Yesterday I did a lot of weeding and planted 7 containers and cleaned all the tables in the pool house. Trying to stay as active as I can. Today I have done a set of squats, a set of lunges (5) on each leg and a set of leg lifts, each leg. Also did 3 sets of arm exercise with the weights. I am hoping to get to rehab on Thursday, I hope I can get a sneaker on by then. I am going to go to Target later if I can wear a flip flop with out it hurting too much, I did manage to wear them for a while on Sunday but it did it hurt after! Been barefoot ever since !!

Holly, best way for me to describe a lunge is by visualizing a person fencing and they 'lunge' towards their opponent.. I am thinking she takes one leg and lunges forward then steps back. Repeat...I probably confused you more...Pat

Hi Everyone, The only thing I've exercised so far today is my patience while waiting an hour to get a simple TB test, with an appointment. So now, I'll stop complaining and go get busy. Have a good day. Merry, you inspire me!

The title of that graphic is "Exercise Your Mind" but it made me think of remembering to exercise, so I thought it was appropriate. Besides just being ridiculous looking! ;D Holly - here is a lunge: Colleen, a bruised foot is about the worst thing there is. Hope it feels better soon. We posted our "lunges" at the same time! Today was my Off-day, so no exercise...Just stopped by to see how everyone else was doing.

Merry, your right, it does hurt and I hope to never do this again.
I did go to Target and walked practically the whole store. And, have my very soft slippers on and my foot is a little sore, not as bad as I thought which is good, hopefully rehab on Thursday.

Colleen, Your foot does not look good. Hope it continues to not hurt as bad as it looks. Take care.
I did not exercise today as we had a busy day and lot of coming and going with my granddaughter's 8th grade promotion ceremony this morning. I had been very stressed about this day coming and overall it went pretty well for all.
I did do some up and down again. I moved onto another bookcase in another area and sorted thru a bunch of VHS tapes to get rid of the kiddie ones. Well, my 11 year old really helped me a lot with that chore but between the 2 of us, we only got rid of about one real full box and about 3/4th of the Barneys and not all of them. Just couldn't give them all up yet. ;D
See you tomorrow. I plan to work out.

I just could not work out today. Breathing was not good. Found out my girlfriend stayed home yesterday and that is really rare. Something in the air. Joe said it is humid. I slept a lot. Did start sorting a clothes closet and that was up and down. Didn't start until after dinner. Sorted VHS tapes yesterday and my 11 year old granddaughter helped with that and it was fun. We have lots of everything. Should be a good garage sale if I ever get done. I am not finishing any area completely though, jump around. Still have to go back to each place and consolidate stuff and make the extra space we need.
Hope tomorrow.

I went to the gym this morning to make up for not making it yesterday. Walked 30 minutes at 2.4 mph and then hit the machines. I'm still keeping my leg exercises at 60 pounds and the upper body at 40 pounds. It seems to give me a good workout without overdoing it. I found a machine than I can use to substitute for the leg press. It is actually an upper body machine, but you have to use your legs to press a peddle to get the arm bars in place. When you do that, you are pressing the weight with your legs, so I just set it on 110 pounds and used my feet. Hard to explain, but it works! I also did the stair stepper -- 10 flights on level 7/12. I was sweating when I finished my workout ;D Took me 55 minutes. Oh, yeah -- I did 12-20 reps on each machine depending on the exercise.

Hi Ladies, sorry I have been MIA; it's a long story.
I finally got back on my TM today after about 2 1/2 weeks and walked .27 miles at a speed of 1.0mph for 16 minutes - non-stop. Not too bad considering the rain and humidity we've had the last few days, but still a far cry from what I could do at the beginning of Feb. drat!
Merry, you are doing WONderful! I'm so very happy for you and thank you for inspiring the rest of us!
Colleen, your bruise really looks nasty! I FEEL for you! How does your foot feel today, and were you able to go to rehab?
Mary, I think we need an award for book-lift exercises for you! You are really outdoing yourself with all that lifting. I'm glad you're granddaughter's promotion ceremony went well. Has your breathiing been bad because of air pollution? Or something else?
Willomar, I understand the exercising of patience under the kind of circumstances you mentioned. What a way to have to learn patience, eh?!
Holly, nice to see you in this neck of the Day-to-Day woods! Did you get some ideas for exercise equipment/dvds?
Pat, thanks for the lung explanation and your ever-in-tune sense of humor!

I planned to walk today but without a doubt was not a good day for breathing. I didn't know why but we suspect now it is the weather. Humid and windy. I went out and had my haircut. I didn't get from the front to the back as easy as usual but things got better tonight.
Wouldn't you know it. . . the same person has cut my hair for years. She moved and I followed. She is at a large salon that has two rows of places with workers on each side. Wouldn't you just know that my girl is in the very back. I say it with a smile because haircuts for us are an event and we have a good time. Lots of teasing and laughing, Joe included.
Adina; glad to see you. You are doing good for having been away from it. I will catch you, if I can. ;D Few years ago I probably couldn't come close to what you are doing. Don't go to fast and I will catch up. ;D
Everyone is doing so well, except Merry, who is always doing 'great'.

Today was gym day again. I increased my speed on the treadmill to 2.5 mph and did 30 minutes. My legs were tired at the end, but I did it. That was my goal speed. According to the Physical Therapist at the hospital, I may now "maintain." We'll see. I also increased the leg press to 120 pounds and did 2 sets of 10. Everything else was the same with 40 pounds on the arm exercises and 60 on the legs. 15-20 reps on each.

Well, this was my long week at work and I did extra cleaning. In a few weeks is "cleaning week" which is the residents go to camp and all the staff cleans. I put in for vacation during that time. It ticks co workers off cuz I always get it.
Colleen, how is the foot? Merry, plz send that guy my way, lol. Sounds like everyone has been doing real good!

I cannot believe that it was Monday when I walked the TM. I feel like I have been working. I have slept a lot this week. Joe is having the same problem. I have decided that since I am fighting with myself and trying to get on the TM, I would change my approach. If all is not right, I know when I get on the TM, I will be right back off. Today, I decided to do that bike thing I have 'first.' I always try the TM first because it is the hardest. I am not getting enough exercise. I did the bike today until I got to where I was feeling it. I did 15 minutes. I know I can do it. Will do that as I try to do the TM. At least I will be using my legs somehow. Would be nice if a Nustep because it would have arms too. My bike is lil different than the picture, there is a bar that comes around the top front. You could put your arms on it.

I'd say your doing pretty well, I can't make 15 mins on the bike without several stops. All the cleaning and up and down is good Mary, no wonder your tired!!
I have rehab tomorrow.

I can do the bike okay. Not a big effort. The walking gets me because my sob is such a struggle. It is the breathing more than the muscles in a lot of the areas. When I first started back after off exercise for so long while Joe was sick, it was hard to even do the stepper, at rehab, and that is normally easy. All my muscles had lost it all. This is not the thread for this week. I should have replied here first and then posted for todays exercise. Leave it to me to do it backwards and the wrong one is on top.
