Wendy, I DO know what you mean about the ability to exercise being a day-to-day thing. To me, that's one of the most frustrating parts of this darned disease. Glad you felt better yesterday, and you keep on keeping on, too!
Merry, I think you did VERY well to take that 20-minute walk outside after having a bronchoscopy and biopsy! VERY well, indeed! You sure an inspiration to the rest of us. I enjoy hearing about your experience, too, and am sending good thoughts your way for continued rapid recovery.
Pat, I'd bet you got quite a bit of walking in today, PLUS I think it takes a great deal of energy to be out and about as long as you were. How did your kidney doc appointment go, and how do you like your new glasses?
I was able to do 31 minutes on the TM today, and I could do the whole time at 1.3 mph, for a distance of .67 miles. Boring, but I feel like I'm slowly making progress.

Colleen, LOVE your diploma! I want one, too. I am SUCH a good slacker! In fact, I got SO good at it that I'm now out of shape and trying hard to get going again! Cold and windy does me in, too. This disease really IS very weather-sensitive. I know you'll get with it.... we're here to cheer you on - even on "slacker days." Pat, yep, we sure DO all have days like that. I know there are some people (somewhere) who do this exercise stuff 6-7 days a week, but I sure can't - or won't. Five is all I can manage, and sometimes not even that. But I got to a place where it was getting more and more difficult to get out and about on my own, so I HAD to do something.

Happy Friday! It was back to PT for me today. No rest for the wicked! I walked on the TM for 15 minutes at 1.9 mph and then 15 minutes at 2.0 (I'm almost at that magical 1 mile mark). Then did 3 sets of six at 110 lbs on the leg press, 3 X 6 @ 55 lbs on leg extensions, and 3 X 6 @40 lbs on leg curls. Then tonight after supper, we walked the dog for about 20 minutes.
Keep it up everyone!

Merry; I bet the rehab workers wish that every patient was like you. I cannot imagine anyone doing much more than you do with what you have been thru. You really work at it and have a good attitude. Way to go.

I need a slacker diploma also!! I was lazy the other day, but I worked last night and made up for it by scrubbing a kitchen and huge diningroom floor. I am not getting down on my knees to do it anymore, it just plain wears me out. So I went to Menards and bought a floor scrub brush that has a broom handle and has stiff bristles on it. Looks like a shop broom with a smaller head on it. Anyway, it worked fine, got all the dirt out of the tiny cracks and it didnt tucker me out. And I can use it at home too.

Today was a beautiful day for a walk. So off I went to my park and walked 20 minutes. I should've worn a sweater as it was chilly. I didn't walk with my poles. I need to get them out next time and USE them!!!! lol
I have felt soooo well today. I actually (when no one could see me) trotted down the hallway to the mailboxes. I was tempted to see if I could do a 'senior' jog at the park but didn't get up the nerve. Not once today have I felt sob. That's a wonderful feeling...Pat

Can anyone tell me how the odemeter thing works? Is it everytime you take a step? I don't think mine is really correct. I told me one day I walked over 3 miles. I was busy that day and did some shopping. Does anyone know a good, accurate brand? Thanks,
BTW Merry you are just amazing!!!!!

Hi Everyone, my exercise this weekend has been walking. We went to the Home/Garden Show at our local fairground yesterday. We took our little 3 year old grandson and wow, those little guys can sure keep you moving. "Look Nana, look! What's that Nana?" Never knew that I could love a little guy so much. Tomorrow its back to exercise and weights. Colleen, loved your diploma! Adina, you get a gold star for all your walking. Merry, you are a star and we are all cheering for you. Blondie, if I trotted down to the mailbox, I'd have to roll myself back home! Hey Sue, how are ya?

Toby, I have a Sportline pedometer. You have to set it to your stride to get accurate readings. I'm not sure mine is. You'd be amazed at how many steps/miles you can walk..

Linda; Here is a little about setting a pedometer. Not sure if it will help. It tells about Measure Your Regular Stride and Measure Your Step Length. Scroll down the page and you will find those. tinyurl.com/cb48bdForgot what I came in here for I should be back in here working out this week. Hope so.
