I did that walking video again today, did it yesterday also. Yesterday it was 8 minutes again, could feel the muscle burn LOL
Today, felt the muscle burn again but made it to 9 min 30 sec. I know I won't be able to walk as fast as her after about the 9 minute mark but will keep my pace a try to finish.
Question, when you feel your muscles burn, should you take a day off?

Hi Colleen, I can't claim to know the answer to your question, but I don't THINK you have to take the next day off. It's just a buildup of lactic acid in the muscles that should dissipate by the next day. I know we should do strength training every other day, though. I have managed 15 minutes on the TM today at 1.5 mph for a total of .35 miles so far. I was able to do a full 30 minutes all at once that one day last week, but haven't been able to go that long without stopping again. Grrrr!

Absolutely best of luck at rehab, Colleen! You're doing great, too! And I forgot to mention - I really like Leslie Sansone, too. Had a great little walking video over ten years ago that I think got lost in one of my moves and is no longer available. All I can find now are ones that she covers the equivalent of a mile in 20 minutes, and I just can't GO that fast. But her indoor walking techniques are terrific.
And yes.... just where IS everyone else. Pat, I know you're getting ready to move, but.... Merry's the only one with a good excuse now! LOL
Update: I was able to do 30 minutes on the TM at 1.5 mph. I had to stop at about 24 minutes for a minute or two before I finished, but I did my 30 minutes.... and .75 miles. How was rehab, Colleen?

Ok, I guess I better report. I don't think we have the best air quality lately. I notice on some of Ken's post he concurs. My eyes are burning. Class at rehab, that I attended today, was the pharmacist. I mentioned affect on eyes of a medicine and he even said he had trouble with burning eyes and it is something in the air. I am in bad shape. After rehab today, went to grocery store and bought foods finally that I wanted to set up a planned menu for a better dieting. That is more than I have done in long time. At rehab I did the Nustep and Erogometer same as last time and only. . TM 3 min @ 1.2However, RT caught me before I left and sent me home with specific things to do every day, actually several times a day It involves my warmups and theraband. Will let you know how it goes. I am here to work on it. I will be back.

Mary, slow and easy is good, glad they gave you some direction for home, will make it easier. Soon you'll be back to where you were!!
Did pretty well yesterday at rehab. 12 min. on tm at 1.4, 5 min on the bike (hate it) 5 mins on the nustep (love it) and about 5 mins on the arm peddler. Took a few breaks to catch my breath and let my heart rate go down a little, not that it was too bad, just don't like the feeling when it is at 130. RT said not to worry till it hits 140, I thought never, I'll collapse first!! LOL
Adina, ordered some books from B&N and ordered Leslie's video with the 1 & 2 mile, probably won't do the 2 mile till after transplant but it's good to have, besides, its in one CD. I am really liking the walking and plan on doing it on days I don't go to rehab, along with weights.

Colleen; It was nice that I brought home instructions but I didn’t do any of it today. I was so exhausted from yesterday and dragging this morning. I got cleaned up for going to the eye Dr. and took care some things. I had a small salad when we got home. I tried to not nap but just could not stay awake. Took a nap. Joe almost didn’t wake me for dinner as I was sleeping so good. I don’t sleep like that at night. I am trying to say that I find if I am more active, I do sleep better at night. If I get to rehab in AM, I will have to explain. It is fine really. If from Thurs to Tues I did nothing, that would be different. They always emphasis not overdoing either. Colleen, if 1.4 happens to be too much of an effort, bring it down and work on walking longer first and then the speed back. I don’t like the bikes and won’t ride them at rehab. I run a high heart rate but not as high as 130. I ordered this Leslie Sansome 1 and 2 mile one DVD. tinyurl.com/cccjdtI bought thru Half.com and paid $6.89 with shipping. I usually do okay thru them. Adina, you are sure doing well. Merry is putting all to shame. I am so very happy for her.

The way I felt when I got up today I almost didn't go to rehab. I am glad I did. Feeling so good right now.
Stayed off the treadmill, I have one at home so I am concentrating on the machines I don't have.
8 min. on the Nustep 8 Mins. on the Arm peddler 8 Mins on the bike
Felt great when I was done but needed a good 10 mins to sit when I was done. I take a break in between each machine for 2 to 3 mins.

Hi Everyone, Oral surgery has knocked my exercise out of the park for the past 2 days. Not sure what is worse, the pain or the nausea from the darn pain meds. Most of my exercise was getting to the bathroom in time.lol Today is much better. Mary, here's a suggestion that may help you. I use those weights that wrap around your arms or ankles. They are especially helpful when I'm sick because you can use them while sitting or laying down. They are pretty inexpensive too. Just a thought. Think I got mine from Target.

Everyone's doing great! Bravo!
I have been so nauseous the last two days, and I don't know why. I was even at the doc's yesterday, but I didn't say anything then because I wasn't too bad, and we had enough other things to cover. I got worse as the day went on, felt a WEE bit better when I went to bed, but then I slept till 11:30 am this morning (12 hours). Still didn't feel very good, haven't eaten much, and took a nap this afternoon. I THINK (and hope) I'm on the mend now. I don't know if it was something I ate or a bug, but I plan to be back to exercising tomorrow. geesh!

Adina, sorry you were under the weather. Hopefully it was just a bug.
I went to the gym again today. Did 3 sets of 6 on the leg press at 60 lbs. Also worked on the treadmill: 5 minutes at 1.0 mph twice, and 5 minutess at 1.1 mph. Total of 15 minutes. It went well - no soreness, or pain. I will only get one day off per week while I'm here. It will be either Sat or Sun depending on which day the rehab person works on the weekend.

Adina, hope you feel better soon. I had a few days like that last week so it is probably a viral thing going around.
Merry, you are amazing! Glad things are going well, keep up the great work, you'll be their "Best Patient" !!
I pretty much took today off, did lots of floor washing. Cleaned up a lot of clutter and took a short nap. Tomorrow I am doing the walk work out, just got my DVD's in the mail today. Will be doing it on the big TV in the living room so I hope to do better.
Have a great night all.
Willomar, I have those weights and they are nice. Sometimes I put them on just to walk around the house.

Merry, you're putting the rest of us to shame! Great going, girl! I'm betting you'll be exercising from home before too long. Thanks you both, Merry and Colleen, for the "condolences" on how I feel. Thanks for the info Colleen. I thought it might have been something I ate, but maybe it was a bug since others have had it, too. Sounds like you got a good workout washing floors; that's also excellent for your upper body/chest muscles. Have fun with your new DVDs! Willomar, I hope you're finally feeling better. I agree that running to the bathroom is surely major exercise. ;D Sue, how many babies did you bounce today? Pat, are you getting your exercise by packing stuff up? Mary-AZ, where are you? Were you able to get to rehab yesterday? We had rain till midafternoon, with dropping temps and high winds... all of which I think affected my workout. Although I was able to do .75 miles again, it took me longer. I did 25 minutes at 1.5 mph and then 6 mintues at 1.4 mph. And I had to stop several times for a few minutes in order to catch my breath. whew! I hope for a better day tomorrow.

I am here but have not done too well. I did some of the exercises yesterday and today that the RT suggested I do at home. No TM. No Rehab. My husband had to take my granddaughter to the doctor yesterday morning. Unexpected appointment. I planned to walk at home but didn't happen. We did go to the store and I moved around more than usual but poor excuse for TM. I have got to get moving. Merry just puts us all to shame. I am so proud of her. We can claim Merry for our very own. Ha, ha. Tomorrow Joe plans to clean the carpet and move things from my room and that may be not so good. TM will not be working nor computer. I also got my DVD of Leslie's. Yesterday but saved it for Saturday and will see if me and my granddaughter can play with it. I will try but I don't think I can. Never know. Adina hope you feel better by now. Willomar, I agree with the others. Colleen, you do the things I do at rehab but no bike. I will get better, I will do better, I will do better. . . .

I'm waiting for the PT guys to come get me, and was checking my maill I saw somebody looking for the older Leslie Sansone tapes. Try www.CollageVideo.com That's where I got her tapes from, and last time I looked they still carried the old ones. I'll check in later I went and looked, and they have 4 pages of Leslie's tapes including easy ones for blood sugar control, and older folks. www.collagevideo.com/exercise-videos/leslie-sansone-videos-10&page=2

I did finally get started today, AGAIN!!! I did warmups plus some extra and theraband. TM 8 minutes @ 1.1 - 1.2Joe remembered he was not to be doing extra excercising this weekend due to his test on Monday. He is not doing the carpet this weekend. It involved moving a lot of big furniture. Merry; I checked the video website. Nice variety for exercise but expensive for some. I like the half.com. I have never yet gone wrong with Tapes, DVDs or books. There are new and used. I usually buy used. I think this DVD was new, said it was. It was wrapped. Works fine. I just watch sellers with good feedback. I only paid $3.90 + 2.99 shipping/handling for total $6.89. I bought this one "Walk Away the Pounds Express 2 in 1 DVD 1 Easy Walk, Brisk Walk 2. I bought mine from the 'preach __ jeff' guy. tinyurl.com/cqb95zHope I keep this up. Have a good weekend. Merry I am so happy for you.

Adina, both toddlers just turned 2, one weighs maybe 20 lbs soaking wet, the other one closer to 30 by now, she is tall and a chunk, lol. I cant bounce that one long, but a few minutes is better than nothing.
All you guys are doing so good! The other day, I took Ashlyn for a 20 min walk, that's about all I did this weekend. The weather here has been more winter than spring and that affects me.

Mary, BRAVO! You nearly tripled your time! Way to go! Sue, it sounds like you could build up some serious leg muscles bouncing that little one on your leg, and those muscles will burn more energy AND keep you going longer. I've been a "slouch" this weekend... but... We all tried this week.... did a little better than before, and we'll do even better next week, so let's give ourselves a big hand!
