I went Friday to Montclair plaza and walked a little over 3 miles.
Today, Saturday, I went to local park and walk for a 1/2 hour. I used my walking poles. Before hand, there was a reninssance type gathering. People dressed in period costume and get together for competitions of old time fencing and broadsword fighting. No injuries allowed of course. It's a club that holds these gatherings. Kind've like the Black Power clubs. They were having a wonderful time. My walking poles sure work out nicely. If nothing else, they provide stability.

Hi Pat, You sure get out a lot. That is great tho. We have a pretty good size reninssance festival here every year but I never went to it but always wanted to. I have got to check out walking poles because I just cannot picture them.
I guess I am going to try AGAIN to get on a workout schedule. I am ready now if it stays that way. Exercise is good for stress but I don't think I can get enough to help lately. That was a joke. Ha, ha.
All I did today was work on my warmups. Actually got out the sheets and verified if I was really doing them right. I am starting over. Spring break was this week and I get more worn out when the kids are around. I have started back to rehab this past Tuesday. Couldn't go Thursday as Joe had an MRI scheduled. Rehab will help if we all stay well. Have a good week Pat.

Mary, thanks for the kind words. For the last two weeks, I've been just getting out when I need to. Grocery store, running a couple of errands. I had a respiratory infection and you know how those things can make you feel lethargic? Im almost out of my anti's and am now on a 5mg dose of pred daily. That helps.
BTW, it wasn't really a Reninssance fair. Just a club of people that get together and dress in period clothes and compete against each other. Fencing and broadsword fighting. Of course, they don't injure each other, just lots and lots of fun.

Went and visited son yesterday so i took a 1/2 hr walk around his neighborhood. He lives down the street from a small lake too.
Pat, I googled walking sticks, are they more for stability than anything else?

Well, I don't really consider it my exercise, but I went to Walmart and the grocery store yesterday. I went to the next town, where they have a bigger store than here. So, I got in a pretty good workout. I know when I'm shopping, I sort of poke and look, but I have been making a point of really pushing myself to move quickly when I come to an aisle where I don't need anything, and I really zoom down it (certainly better for me than just skipping those aisles ). The nearest rehab facility I have found is over an hour away and I really can't afford the gas to go there, so I will have to improvise. I'm going to dig through the storage shed and see if I can find my Leslie Sansone tapes, and do some walk-aerobics with her. I am pretty sure I packed them - if not, I'll order a couple online.

Sue, according to the packaging, the poles help you burn 45% more cal's, relieve stress on knee's, joints and feet. I also find them to help my stability. That 1/2 walk would've been fun with the poles:)
Merry, I'm sorry there is no rehab nearby. I know you were doing so well in the rehab that your last attended. If you have a garage, maybe you can buy one of those medical balls and work out there? Also, maybe buy a treadmill? Lots of ideas with your money..lol Pat

I need to jump in here, too, because I fell off the exercise wagon sometime back. So I'm starting up with you, Mary.
Pat, great walking! I know I couldn't walk 3 miles, so good for you! Also, do you know if the group was called SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism)? They do this kind of thing all over the country, and in August I think it is, they have what they call the "Pennsic Wars" somewhere in PA. I LOVE medieval history and literature!
Sue, a half hour walk is great! I may check into those, too.
Merry, you still got some exercise walking thru the stores. Maybe you can start up with MaryAZ and me. I'll post tomorrow after I actually accomplish something! LOL

Adina, nice to see you. We should never get real out of condition. Sue, if I did all you do, I would probably not add a lot of exercise either.
Only to show how bad I am, I will post my workout today at rehab.
Warmups; 3 minutes erogometer level 3; 7 minutes on NuStep level 3; and
TM 3 minutes @ 1.2
We left rehab and went to Bank, came home had lunch and I took a nap, about 1:30. Got up at about 4:30 and had dinner and about 5:30 back to sleep. Got up at 8:30 and here I am. I was soooo tired and sooooo sore. That is better sleep than I have been getting.
I should not have been that sore. By Thursday I should do and feel better.

Mary, I pace myself or sit a minute when I need to ;D. And I'd be up a creek if it wasnt for Advair keeping me open. The one thing that gets me is walking up an incline (even a slight one) and up stairs. Anything 'up' gets me gasping for air.

Mary, you're absolutely right about keeping with the exercise. I'm just going to have to MAKE myself do it. Whether you think it's "bad" or not, you're back on track and putting forth the effort, so good for you!
Sue, I agree with Mary. And all that housework you did is great exercise for your chest and arm muscles--very important! Like you, any incline, no matter how small, really challenges my breathing!
I did 14 minutes and 23 seconds on the TM yesterday at 1.5 mph. I was shooting for a full 15 minutes before stopping, but I got interrupted with a delivery, and then all kinds of other things sidetracked me. I also did 5 minutes of arm "air" exercises. Got to do better today!
Pat and Merry, where are you?
