I went out early (for me) and signed up for membership at the Y. My insurance has the Silver Sneakers and they pay for seniors to exercise at the Y. So I walked around the indoor track, did some treadmill. I went back out this afternoon and walked some more and I have a total of over 4 miles in. I didn't walk outside today because it was 83 degrees outside and I don't do well in direct sun. So I'm happy I went to the Y. I got the times the teens will be at the Y and I will work around their hours ;D Pat

I didn't get to the Y yesterday. They want to take my ID picture and my hair looked awful yesterday. I did walk downtown and got in 2.91 miles. Round it off to 3 ;D
If my hair turns out well today, I may head to the Y later today.
Merry, it'll be good to see you back here. Pat

I went to the Y this afternoon. I only exercised for 1/2 hour. I am taking it easy until I work myself back up. I can get out and walk on the streets better, but the TM and stationery bike is something else again. I'll get up to speed before too long..I hope lol Pat

Youi are doing good Pat. Merry, don't start too soon this time. I have no excuse. I am well enough to start. I wasn't going to come back in here until I started. However, I assured myself the last 3 days that I would start the TM again, if even for 2 minutes. I didn't do it. Things happened early afternoon and it got away from me but no good excuse. By posting I am hoping to make myself accountable in a way that I will walk tomorrow. I really need to. With the Prednisone and laying in bed too long, I have put weight back on that I had lost. I was feeling better as it was coming off. Hope to see you tomorrow.

Mary-I didn't go back too soon last time. I had the doc's blessing. This was an entirely different problem with no relation to the pneumonia. I see the doctor Tuesday and will see how I am then. I'm still too congested to do any exercising right now - can't stop coughing long enough!
I know you'll get back on the old TM. We are all rooting for you.

Merry; I thought you had a cold and turned to pneumonia. Let us know how you are doing. Maybe you can tell me about it later. I put a message to you in my Daily Chat post for Sunday.
I DID IT! I credit this to the fact I posted here that I was going to. It worked last time I did that until my life was turned upside down and then I got sick.
Did warmups and then only 3 minutes on TM at 1.1. That was a good start. Started at 2 minutes last time. I didn't strain at all but know I can feel it the next day and so stopped.
Good luck to you getting things under control.

I went to the mall around 11am and I forgot to clip my pedometer on but I did walk 3 hours and am guessing that put me near 10,000 steps. I finally had to leave the mall as my hips were beginning to really hurt. I probably should've taken one Alleve before I left home. Pat

I went to Wal-Mart yesterday for a quick visit and got along fine, so today I went grocery shopping. Walked the whole store and got along well. My strength is coming back fine. Just wish I could stop coughing, although I think it "may" be a little better today. Will see what doc says tomorrow--I really want to get back in the gym.

I barely got started and am having something wrong. Yesterday I sort of got tied up with the Cardinals Football game. I watched the 1st part and last part and napped in between. After dinner I was not feeling good nor getting good saturation. My fault that I didn't workout earlier.
Had to cancel an appointment this morning. I just could not get my breathing under control. We changed some things and if all is okay will work out tomorrow or have to call the doctor.Personally I think it is the air. Think I had a problem like this last year. I went to doctor and he said sometimes, you just don't know why. I hope I am here to report TM tomorrow.
You all are doing good getting around.

It was not easy but I did workout today. I am really in bad shape. I have extra weight on and feel all bloated around my chest. Therefore, am very uncomfortable. I am sure it is the fat and not muscle that is not helping. I don't think I will feel good until I get to working out more. I did warmups. This time I did my 1# weights and only did 2 kinds at 5 each. I am down. I did the TM again but nothing added. TM 3 minutes at 1.1

Mary, just a suggestion or two on the treadmill. Try walking slower and see if you can walk longer. I think you'll improve your endurance faster by starting out slower. Be sure to include some leg exercises so you can improve your muscle tone -- that will help on the walking as well. I know how hard it is and I'm proud of you for trying so hard. You'll get there!! )

Ate least your trying Mary, and it will get easier. Have you tried the diabetic (low carb) diet? I havent "officially" started, but I am more conscious of what Im eating. I figure that is a start. My extra weight/bloat is in my belly, that makes me uncomfortable, I feel like Im pg.

Martha; I appreciate your help. I am starting as low as I can. 1.1 is not at all difficult. I used to do 1.6 to 1.8 and the last regular I was at just 1.6. I bet there is something to the leg part. I have not been to rehab. Going to try tomorrow. I can work the legs there. I have a thing like a bike but with all the people in our house it got buried sort of. This stuff is all so big to store. If rehab does not become regular I will get it out somewhere. Thanks Martha.
Sue; My extra weight is also in my belly and makes it hard to breath. Lost pounds are very helpful.
I did get on the TM but just could not do it today. My breathing has been up and down. See how tomorrow goes.
