Happy Monday!! Today was rehab. It went real well. Walked my 30 minutes at 1.9mph. Since the leg press went well Friday, I upped my weights by 5 pounds today - did six each at 120, 125 and 130 pounds. 5 more pounds and I'll be back where I was before I went in the hospital. And I did my sit/stands: 3 sets of 5 with the 2Kg medicine ball. We're having some cold weather too, Pat - it's in the mid-50's right now and my heat is running

Tuesday - I fought my way through the crowds at the grocery store today. Boy, I sure am glad I didn't wait til tomorrow!! It was exhausting. Wait for people to move, then hurry through the opening before someone else blocked the way. It was nuts. But I did feel like I got a good workout in the process.

I walked about a mile and a half today. Only got a little sob but it was chilly out The thing that bothered me was my cotton picking hip. The pain comes and goes. So strange.. If I can sit down for a couple of minutes then resume walking, then it's tolerable. Pat

Pat - does the pain make you SOB? At least you can get relief from sitting down. So, you walk a little, sit a little, and walk a little more. It all adds up!

Merry, I sat down because the hip hurt not because of being sob. The sob was on the last leg of my walk and it was very mild. Golden Years my 'butt'...lol Pat

My son brought up an exercise bike for me today. My brother had bought it for my SIL and was putting it together when he had a heart attack. He was only 50! He died in January 1997. My SIL wanted it out of her house (understandably) and I felt the same way about it. My son had given it to his BIL and he doesn't want it anymore. I have to get the exercise or my pulmonologist is going to kill me. With this weather the way it is, I needed something I could do without leaving the house. It gives me a funny feeling but then I think he would want me to exercise so it's a sign from him to get cracking! It doesn't have a speedometer on it and it has one of those racing seats which with my bony butt isn't very comfortable. I'm thinking of buying another seat. My question is how long do you guys go on the exercise bike? Do you do little spirts or do it all at once? I'm going to start first thing tomorrow!

Toby, go to a bike shop and ask them about a bigger seat. Those banana seats are VERY uncomfortable. When I use to go to the Y, I'd ride the stationery bike for about 1/2 hour. I had to force myself to keep pedaling ;D It was more a recumbent type of bike. Much more comfortable than the ones with the seats at the top, but I've riden then also. Depending on how you feel after you start pedaling, only go as far as you comfortable. Whether it be 5 minutes of 1/2 hour. Sometimes we need to get out of our comfort zone but not to push it too hard. Holly, great you got a bike for Christmas. They can help take lbs off us and get us in shape Pat

I'll check it out Pat. I have been looking online for a speedometer too. I think that is what I want. I want something that lets you know how far you have gone. Just so I have a number to give my Doctor.
I can't tell you how great it is seeing you here on the forum Holly!

toby, I was wondering, do they also make those fake lamb's wool seat pads for bikes? Hi Holly! Glad my kids didnt get one, then I would have to use it, hahaha.
I worked last night so that meant doing the floors, etc. I have been too lazy I admit. I need to get out walking with the MP3 player to make the time go by faster.
