PULMONOLOGISTS AND INTENSIVISTS AROUND THE WORLD TO GATHER FOR ATS 2016
ATS 2016
Health care practitioners from around the world will meet in San Francisco to share insight and collaborate at the American Thoracic Society’s Annual International Conference May 13-18, 2016. The annual conference is designed for pulmonary, critical care and sleep professionals from all walks of life, from the earliest stage in their career to seasoned professionals with international recognition. This year’s focus is the conversion of today’s science into tomorrow’s care.
Sessions at the event are multi-disciplinary, including allergy/immunology, behavioral science, cardiology, pulmonary and several other areas. For COPD, there is a pulmonary medicine track that includes pulmonary research, tobacco cessation and e-cigarette use and other clinical topics related to the disease.
If you are attending the event, the NHLBI will be present throughout the conference.
On Sunday, May 15, we will discuss topics such as respiratory outcomes, the FDA Tobacco Regulatory Science Program and an NHLBI-sponsored Tuberculosis System Biology program.
Monday, May 16, we will discuss topics such as precision-based medicine for COPD, the genetics of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and the NHLBI K12 program. James Kiley, Director of the Division of Lung Diseases at NHLBI, will also co-lead a discussion on the overlap between COPD and Asthma to understand the findings around viruses and respiratory illness and the differences of different allergies for patients.
Wednesday, May 18, we will discuss topics such as research funding opportunities, the COPDGene® study and phenotyping of pulmonary vascular diseases.
To talk about the COPD National Action Plan with us, stop by booth 312 in the Exhibit Hall! Tony Punturieri will be at the booth on Sunday, May 15, and Monday, May 16, from noon to 1 p.m. PST. Team members will also be present during general exhibit hours.
