This is so important to COPD and your quality of life. I had said before and I'll say it again, once your diagnosed it should be high on the list of getting into a rehab program. It helped me tremendously and kept me well enough to get a transplant and that was at 12% lung function. It was hard and a struggle but well worth it!!! Some days I could barely manage 10 mins on the treadmill but it pays off...every little bit helps~~
Good article Cheryl!

I think rehab is vital unfortunately VA won't authorize more than one in life time. I had mine in 2003.

I've been to rehab and it was great! Medicare only pays for 72 visits in a lifetime and I have used half of that. My rehab center wanted to save the other half for after transplant. Now my center is making it a mandatory thing to go to rehab a couple of time a week so guess I'll be using the other half.

Unfortunately the rehab closest to me was too far for me to get to. I try to walk on the treadmill but don't do it regularly enough. I wish they had more programs available around here.

There needs to be more and it needs to be affordable and medicare needs to give yearly limits so you can go every year not lifetime~~if they would only realize that this in the long run could save them a ton of money cause you learn so much more besides the exercise~~
