A while back I told you my Dr. was going to put me on a low dose of an antibiotic every day. I was waiting for the infection to leave but have started this week taking it. It's a common one, Zithromax. It is too soon to tell but I am hoping it will help me with the infections. My daughter came home from a trip with a terrible chest infection. I'm trying to stay clear of her.

Tell her to get to the dr's and soon~~
Linda I have heard really good things from people taking that so I hope you get good results from it~it may take a while but it s worth it. I take a anti 3X's a week to prevent infection also and so far I have not been really sick, a little head cold a few times but that's it.
Keep us posted, may end up helping someone else from your experience!!

Linda - I take Zithromax 3 times a week, plus Septra DS also 3 times a week. If my next urine culture shows any bacteria, I will increase the Septra (aka Bactrim) to every day for 6 months or more. Prophylactic antibiotics are a proven way to get rid of hidden infections.

I hope it continues to work for you, Jarity. Is the doctor going to continue this year-round, or just for a few months?

Glad the anti's are working for you Jarity, I have read good things about the zithro and this for a few years now. I hope Linda gets the same results~it has always worked well for me as far as upper respiratory infections and when I lived in PA it was my pulmo's first choice.

Jarity, I just saw your post and want to apologize for not acknowledging it. It is really encouraging knowing some of us have taken it to prevent an infection. It doesn't seem to help my coughing very much. Thanks for the input everyone.
