Do any of you know anything about Mobile Doctors. They are in only a few States as shown on this link. I want to know more about them. I know the first thought of them coming to the home is a big plus. I want to know why some doctors would choose this over an office. They take Medicare. I am not comfortable yet with the idea. What is the real reason this was started. If it all started in 1996, why has it not grown more and others opening such a place. www.mobiledoctors.com/coverageThis is their Home Page and it tells some about them. They come to your home. That is the big plus. Because of my new situation of having little or no help this was another area that was found. My Mother signed up with them a few weeks ago before she moved to the Assisted Living. She will still us them there. They did some tests like EKGs and take blood. www.mobiledoctors.com/Thanks. I am not expecting to get much in replies. I never heard of them until recent. I also posted this on another board.

Mary, as you know I'm not in the States, but I did use them once here. I can't help you as to the why a Dr would choose this way to practice. I imagine it could be because of any number of reasons. I wish I could be of more help.

Im still young enough to remember when drs did come to the house, lol. Im not familiar with mobile drs now, but I would think that those involved with it would have a more personal I guess relationship with their patients, more so than just seeing them in their offices. Not sure if I phrased that right or not.

It souns like a great idea. Sometimes you feel too sick to go to a doc's office.. Doc's who come to your home pay no overhead for an office and staff, they probably don't belong to an insurance company(?) and it's great they take medicare.

It does sound good when we talk about it. I was a little turned off when the doctor came and saw my Mother. I think it was the particular doctor and I should probably give it a chance. I am not signed up for it yet. It is so good for my Mother needing bloodwork done every other week. She is on o2 and doesn't see well at all and going out is not easy.
I will let you know if I hear more. She will have a different doctor now where she is. They apparently work different areas.
Thanks,

Mary - I have seen this on TV...not sure if it was 60 Minutes, or some similar program. The doctor they talked to had a full office in his van - it's amazing what the newer technology lets them do now. He said he felt that the patients he sees now really need him - rather than spending most of his day treating runny noses and skinned knees. He feels much closer to his patients and has more time to spend with each one. But, he can only see a few patients a day - not a big practice.
