I have been out of condition for long time. I want to try to exercise regularly and see if I can improve my moving around. I need to start now. Been trying since out of Hospital end March but had way too much stress. It is getting somewhat better.
I thought I would know what to do but now I am not sure. I need to start slow but I want to ask what type of exercises would be most beneficial. If I am totally relaxed and sitting, I breath and have good saturation. Includes ‘not talking’. I feel like a beginner and having forgotten all I learned in the past.
I get up and walk and I dip down quick. I had learned to be more aware of my breathing but now have lost that too. My muscles are in bad shape. I did a lot of laying down for couple months.
I have a Treadmill, Weights and Theraband and myself. I wish I had a Nustep but I don’t. I especially need to work my legs too. I have not been walking near as much as I was before March. It is hard to get motivated but I need to do this. In order to stay living in my own home and not some Assisted Living, I have to be able to get around a little better.

Mary - I'd start by doing some "chair exercises." Keep some cans of soup or 1# weights by your chair--when you think about it, pick them up and work your arms a little. Sit up straight and "march" your feet. Less effort since you aren't fighting to get out of the chair before you even start. You can do this several times a day without too much effort. Turn the TV to a music channel to give you a beat to work out to. As you get stronger, lift your feet a little higher each day. In a couple of weeks you should notice a difference in your strength, and be able to move on to more difficult stuff.

That sounds like good advice.

Thanks Merry. That is good information. I will put it to use. Thanks. You sure have had your share of exercising over the years. Hi Cheryl.

Mary, on your PBS station, there should be a lady who does chair exercises for those who need it. Look in your tv guide. You can exercise along with her. Where I live they have a gal come 2 times a week, at least I think, and she does chair exercises with everyone. I think I should start going.

The show is called Sit and Be Fit -- you can get it on DVD, too.
