I'm getting over bronciatis and today I woke up with my chest burning. I have never had this before but have had Doctors ask me. I would appreciate it if someone knows why this happens. Thank you.

Linda, this is what Google has to say. Sounds like you need to get to a doctor.
What is chest burning? A burning feeling in the chest is a common symptom of heart conditions, lung problems, gastrointestinal disorders, or even a panic attack. Chest burning can result from heart pain due to lack of blood flow or spasm, pain in the esophagus from heartburn, lung pain due to inflammation or infection, or musculoskeletal pain in the chest area.
Heart conditions, such as angina, pericarditis, or heart attack, are common causes of a burning sensation in the chest. Other causes include pulmonary embolism (blockage in a blood vessel in the lungs), which reduces blood flow to the lungs and leads to feelings of chest burning and pain. Pleurisy (inflammation of the lining around the lungs) may also cause a burning sensation in the chest. Heartburn can lead to chest burning, especially in severe cases such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Less often, chest burning is a symptom of asthma or anxiety attacks. It is also possible to experience chest burning as a result of rib fractures or any other injury to the chest area. Chest burning can be a sign of a serious condition. Seek immediate medical care (call 911) if you experience chest burning along with shortness of breath, rapid heart rate, loss of consciousness, or severe trauma to chest. Seek prompt medical care if your chest burning is persistent or causes you concern.

I agree with Betty, best get into a dr.
In my case so far, it means a lung infection.

Linda, i agree with the others, call your doc, when ever I had this it was usually an infection brewing...don't let it go especially after the bronchitis, it probably isn't gone and you need a longer dose of anti's..hang in there I feel bad you've been so sick!!!!

Thank you. The burning wasn't there this morning but it has been off and on so I"m not sure if I won't get it later on. The google thing scared me Betty. I guess I will give the doctor a call later in the afternoon if it continues. I just finished the antibiotic. BTW, I took some tums thinking it could be heartburn but I've never had heartburn like that before.
I had googled it but didn't see what Betty got. Thanks everyone!

Linda, since you were sick, the best thing is to get it checked out.
The first thing I was asked was if it was heart burn or acid reflux. Nope, I tried to explain that it was a different feeling....like hot water being poured into chest area.
I still have it and it doesn't seem to be a big concern with the drs. since they haven't pursued it. I was told by someone else that they get it the day after they have been real active.

Aero, your explanation is right on. It's like boiling water being poured down my throat. It went a way yesterday but just came back this afternoon. I'm getting laryingitis (I know I goofed up that spelling). At least I'm feeling better. It was a good antibiotic and really helped me a lot. Thanks again everyone.

Linda, I hope this situation goes away. It sounds like it is painful. I'd see your pulmonary doc to be on the safe side

Right now it is gone. I'm no longer coughing either. The antibiotic worked great for me. I am going to tell him about it. I go back in 4 weeks. Thanks everyone.

Hope your still feeling better Linda. Its scarey when things like this happen and you don't know why!!!!
Have you ever had reflux?? Sometimes that can cause bad burning and it can and will go into the lungs and it will make breathing worse so maybe check on that.....

I haven't had the burning lately. BUT, I have had a hoarse throat off and on. I am wondering if that is part of it. I'm seeing my GP next month. I'll mention both. If the hoarse throat lasts much longer, I will call for an earlier appointment. It is probably nothing at all. I probably have a little bit of the infection left. I took all the anti's and the prednisone. I'm happy about that. I'll let you know if it turns out to be something more then a infection. Thanks to everyone for your help!
