When I first came home from hosp after pneumonia, I had alot of neck and shoulder pain. It went away. I attributed it to being laid up off and on for 2-3 months. Now I am experiencing that pain again. I an currently not having alot of sob or trouble breathing, so don't know what's going on. Anyone else experience this type of pain? it's most uncomfortable. Pat

Neck and shoulder pain is frequently caused by tension and is very common. You were having SOB recently and you may have been using those muscles to aid in respiration and now have a lot of tension in them. Try to do some gentle stretching and see if you can get them to calm down. Some of the arthritis creams may also help in relaxing the muscles.

Pat,
You have been sewing a bit, right? Do you get up and move around every so often?
I have a lot of neck and shoulder pain and found that if I lean over from the waist and shake my neck and shoulders a bit I can get the muscles to stretch some. I also use a heating pad some and love it. I also like those 8 hour pads you can apply to sore areas. They are just so expensive.
Good luck with that pain. I know it is not fun.

Thank you all so much. I'll be looking at the links posted.
Roadtrip, I sew a bit and get up and move around. When I was sick with some kind've a infection in my lungs a couple of weeks ago, I was having great difficulty with being sob. So it might have started then and is just now catching up with me. I have always been in the fight or flight mode. Just my nature. I never seem to be able to completely relax. Being under alot of stress has caused much of my health problems today. IMHO Pat

I bought one of those things you heat up in the microvave. It is long and thin. It has two rope like handles on either side of it. You can grab on to the handles to put pressure where you want it too. I have used it on my neck, back and shoulders. You can find them in any drugstore. I used my SIL's and loved it after a long drive to see her. Also I use the biofreeze. They will send you a free sample of it if you just want to try. It isn't very cooperative when you put it on. It is like jello and hard to keep it in your hands. Good luck Pat I know how annoying that can be.

Pat, I love the 'Bed Buddy', which I think Toby is suggesting. I've bought several..literally worn them out! I bought mine at Walgreens, they often have a 'buy one, get one' offer. Hope you find some relief soon!
