This came in one of my alerts and I have taken a few of these antibiotics but thankfully have had no side effects from them. Avelox and levaquin are commonly prescribed for upper respiratory infections. www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/NEWS/2008/NEW01858.html

Hi Colleen. Thanks for the topic. I personally feel this is very important. I just stopped by and saw part of the title and clicked on to read. I just sent an email to many of the people on my email list to be sure they see this.
Levaquin is very popular with COPD. I couldn't take it. Joe has had it several times. I have to wonder with him. He is still in the hospital and had a Bone Marrow test today. He is still really sleepy but just told me it could be 2 weeks for results. In the hospital they told him that Levaquin can raise your BP. That is another of Joe's problem. Was the major problem before he got this infection. He has had a couple rounds of Levaquin just since May 27th.
The black box warning on Serevent type drugs, I can understand and I would continue to use it. If people with excessive use of Levaquin actually start having problems such as tendons, etc. and didn't sound like just one person, that is not good.
Colleen; I never got to tell you that I just loved the background that was green with what I think might have been white lillies. Very pretty. This I like but always like better when not squared off so much but harder to find them.

Hmm, now I wonder. I am currently on Levaquin 750. This is about my 5th round of this antibiotic since the 1st of the year. I have been taking it and other antis for many years,
Now I am beginning to wonder if it is contributing to all my pain. Even with the AVN of the knees I have also torn the menicus in the knees. Now I wonder if the Levaquin caused it.
Mary, thanks for the BP heads up. No one ever warned me about that. I wish we could get better warnings about all these drugs. What the heck are we supposed to do.

Thanks Colleen, It is kind of sad that the information has taken so long to get to us. Researching on the web it has been known for about 3 years, maybe longer I am not sure, only going by what I read.
God bless

Roadtrip, I would be calling and asking. Maybe try a different anti and see if you have any relief from the pain. There are a lot of good anti's out there, most are less expensive also. I know Levaquin is ridiculous in price if you have to pay for it. It is a $50.00 co-pay for me so I told doc to give me something else. Then I had a reaction to the other one he gave me, Bactrim I think it was. Sometimes you just can't win. Arlene, it is a shame it took so long, makes you wonder just how they process the info.

Roadtrip; John O. had a broke tendon from Levaquin a few years ago. He posted on CI. He also emailed with me because of Joe. You should ask him about it too. You can end up never walking again. He was fortunate. Sounds like not many have trouble. You never know, like youself, if this is the start of something. Where is the book promoter when you want her. ;D Adinaaaa!! With all going on in my life I cannot get to page 3 of this book I hounded my son to go buy me when he was here. Overdosed America. I think Colleen has it too. Adina promotes it. From what I read this book explains a lot. search.barnesandnoble.com/Overdosed-America/John-Abramson/e/9780061344763/?itm=1Seriously, Adina, I hope you are okay. It was a doctor at the hospital that told Joe about the BP affect. We never heard it before. Sometimes I don't know who to believe. Joe has been given a lot of this Levaquin.
