I sleep with oxy at night but wonder if I am getting any air because my nose is totally stuffed up. I have to breathe through my nose.
Also it's allergy season and that's why I am so stuffed up. I know it affects my breathing too. Ahhh, the fun of being allergy prone.

I also have oxygen at night and have the same problem with a stuffy nose all of the time. I very seldom am able to breathe through my nose. Anyway, I asked my doctor what good the oxygen was doing and he said since I use a concentrator and not the pulse kind, it still goes in whether I'm able to breathe it in through my nose or not. I use Flonase before I go to bed and also use a Breathe-Right strip on my nose, and it seems to help.
I can definitely tell the difference in how I feel when I wake up when I have not been using the oxygen (like on a weekend camping trip), so some of it must be getting to the right place.

I use nasonex for the allergies and it does help with the stuffiness. But I had to stop because of ulcers. I will try the Omnaris that the doctor prescribed too. glad to know I am getting some from the concentrator though!

Do any of you use the water bottle?

Linda - "they" say it isn't helpful unless you use more than 3 liters. However, I always used it and could really tell a difference when the bottle was empty. My nose would get stuffed up if I didn't use it. Make sure you use distilled water, though. And wash the bottle regularly.

I use the humidifier bottle. Pat the humidifier bottle is used on the concentrator and then the hose is connected to it. It helps with the drying of the nose.

Pat, your oxygen supplier should give you one free. If you find out you have to pay for it, let me know. I have two of them. I use it in the winter the majority of the time.

Thanks Linda. Seems like when I first got the concentrator A[ria asked if I wanted the humidifier. I should've said yes..I think I'll call them. Speaking of Apria, they just started charging me for the oxygen. No month is the same. I called them about it and the gal couldn't give me a straight answer. duh It's suppose to be 20% of the cost.

Pat - unless you had not met your deductible, your charges should be the same every month. They don't actually charge you for the oxygen. You are paying rental on your concentrator, plus rental for your regulator that goes on your portable tanks. There should be no charge for tubing, cannulas, etc. Either go on line and check your medicare charges, or check it out when your EOB arrives (since they only come out quarterly, it takes to long for me to wait ). There may have been a change in the accepted charges, or they are getting caught up on back billing. Once they get the rhythm to your billing, it should be the same every month.

Merry, thanks for the info. They should've been able to give me a direct answer when I called them. My bill was kind've crappo:) One bill was 29.00+, Imissed that payment, so next month it was 62.00+ , I paid that and then next month was 40.00, I paid that and questioned them and got basically got a I don't know answer and then this month t is 32.00+. Goofy.. I may have to see if I still have my EOB and check it out.
